Often when space is limited or a conventional court layout can’t work, a multiple basketball tower provides the ideal solution.
This system carries an Engineering Design Certificate and features a heavy duty 100 x 100 mm RHS steel post and cross arms which supports two International sized backboards complete with their full steel frames and stays. Each backboard overhangs the post by 1.2 metres and all steel-work is hot dip galvanised for maximum corrosion protection. The backboards are manufactured from marine bonded plywood which is fully painted and finished with regulation line markings. The system is supplied with your choice of either heavy duty bolt on hoops or removable security hoops.
The post can either be permanently concreted into the ground or the optional ground sleeve can be used which means the tower can be removed. In either case a solid and secure footing is required in the ground and we can supply recommendations as to size and depth. To make the installation easier, the cross arm is supplied as a separate component which is ‘bolted’ to the post once the post has been set into position. Made in New Zealand.
The design of this basketball tower features a post fabricated from 100 x 100 RHS steel which supports a full steel frame for the backboard with an overhang of 1.2 metres. Top stays maximise the durability of this unit and all steelwork is hot dipped galvanised for ultimate corrosion protection. The backboard is international size and manufactured from marine bonded ply which is fully painted and finished with regulation line markings. This system is supplied with a Samson galvanised hoop (G030/035G) and net (differs to that pictured). Height from ground to hoop is 3.05m.
Available for purchase separately are a heavy duty bolt on hoop fixing kit or a removable security hoop fixing kit. You may choose to pay a little extra and have the new design galvanised competition grade sprung hoop for more serious play. Bulky item – ask for a freight quote.

An outdoor reversible tower is a very good option when space is limited and this one is built tough to last. We have other reversible towers to choose from too:
Primary Outdoor Basketball Tower – Reversible – a fixed height tower using 65nb post. A netball ring is fitted to the back of the post. The unit comes complete with a special ground socket which allows the tower to be reversed for netball or basketball. 1200 x 800mm primary size backboard with a 600mm projection. Hoop heights 3.05m but can be cut down to 2.6m (kiwi height) if required – please advise. Nets not included.
Reversible Primary Tower Height Adjustable – An adjustable height reversible tower. A netball ring is fitted to the back of the post. The unit comes complete with a special ground socket which allows the tower to be reversed for netball or basketball. Similar to the Primary Tower – Reversible.
Intermediate Outdoor Basketball Tower – Reversible – A fixed height reversible basketball tower using 80nb post. A netball ring is fitted to the back of the post. The unit comes complete with a special ground socket which allows the tower to be reversed for netball or basketball. 1200 x 800mm primary size backboard with a 1200mm projection. Nets not included. (Hoop heights 3050mm.)
Portable Freestanding Basketball Unit – Reversible – Similar to the freestanding intermediate basketball unit fixed height but with the advantage of being able to rotate the post on the base to use the netball hoop fitted to the back of the post. Nets not included with this reversible tower.
As this is classed as a bulky item, please email for a freight quote. Our towers are made right here in NZ. Allow 3-4 weeks for manufacture if not in stock at time of order.
The basketball backboard – did you know these were a later addition to the game of basketball? Originally, peach crate baskets were attached to a pole 10 feet high and the ball was shot into the crate. Unfortunately spectators would get involved and would interfere with players’ shots. Also, without a backboard rebounding was not able to be a part of the game. To keep those pesky spectators away, the first backboards were created in 1893 and were made out of chicken wire. Due to injuries from the wire, backboards were then made out of wood in 1904 and subsequently glass in 1909. If you want to know more of the history, click here.
